In this charmingly simple yet meaningful story, we meet a family of four setting out on a mountain expedition. Right from the beginning, they encounter unforeseen obstacles, which soon begin to accumulate alarmingly – suffice it to say that the family don’t even manage to reach the hotel. However, as it turns out, the experience of the shared journey is more important than the destination. A regular family outing turns into a trek that is not only physical, but above all, symbolic – the kind that restores a sense of meaning and inner peace, allowing them to notice and preserve the moments worth remembering, the small events in which everyday life reveals its quiet beauty. Rafał Witek devotes a separate section to each family member, emphasising the equivalence of the experiences of adults and children. The story is accompanied by Kasia Piątek’s illustrations, which perfectly complement the sparse, atmospheric prose.
