Kasia, Piotr and Maks live with their mum on the first floor of an old tenement house. Just like other families, they have their daily rituals, joys and sorrows. Mum’s friend, the always dependable Elwira, lives on the ground floor, as does the elderly Mrs Walczyńska. And then there’s the girl who’s been sitting on the stairs for a long time, sad and lonely. The narrator of the story, Kasia, sees in their ordinary life what is not visible at first glance. Through her eyes, we discover a world in which a mum can turn into a butterfly and fight Komodo dragons, the children bathe in Moon Lake, a bear pays them regular visits, and everyone likes kohlrabi stuffed with ice cream.
