Little Linka lives with her mummy. Occasionally an uninvited guest – Mrs Dee – appears in their home, and then mummy sleeps a lot and can’t look after her daughter. When a fire breaks out in their flat, Linka has to go and live with Mrs Agnieszka.
She misses her mummy terribly, but by means of magic she comes under the care of a family of mice who keep her spirits up and help her in her struggles with difficult everyday life. Linka, who misses warmth and love, finds them both in Mouse Town, which only sad human children can enter. The mice who care for the little girl are supported by the cat Marcyana, and soon after, also several grown-ups, who – like Linka – miss friendship and attention from other people. Katarzyna Ryrych’s book is a metaphorical story of depression and its destructive influence on large and small members of a family. The therapeutic text, full of warmth and humour, is accompanied by Marianna Sztyma’s fabulous illustrations.
