Piotr Kilanowski

Prof. Dr., philologist, translator, university lecturer. At the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR, Universidade Federal do Paraná) in Curitiba he teaches courses in Polish literature, culture, cinema, theatre, literary translation and comparative literature. He is the founder of the Centre for Polish Studies (Centro de Estudos Poloneses), which among its aims promotes Polish culture and literature. He has translated into Polish the works of, among others, Paulo Leminski, and into Portuguese the poems of Czesław Miłosz, Zbigniew Herbert, Wisława Szymborska, Jerzy Ficowski, Anna Świrszczyńska, Irit Amiel, Krystyna Dąbrowska, Władysław Szlengel, Ryszard Krynicki and Aleksander Wat. In 2018 he received the Silver Medal “Gloria Artis” for Merit to Culture.
