She has been translating Polish literature since 1979 (including Lem, Mrożek, Libera, Stasiuk, Tryzna). She worked as a Polish language lecturer at the universities of Helsinki and Tampere and at Åbo Akademi University in Turku. She teaches Polish literature and culture and translation at the University of Helsinki.
