Julia Aagenæs Wiedlocha was born in Opole, Poland in 1989, and is living in Oslo, Norway. She translates from Polish and English into Norwegian (both bokmål and nynorsk). She has studied Comparative Literature at the University of Oslo and wrote her Master Thesis on the novel Solaris by the Polish science fiction author Stanisław Lem. She is the publisher and editor at Meteor Forlag, an independent publishing house specializing on high quality literary fantastic fiction in translation, written mainly by women. Along with translator Agnes Banach she runs the organization Polsk på norsk (Polish in Norwegian), that propagates Polish literature to Norwegian readers.
In 2026 she was awarded the Norwegian Critic Prize for the best translated work of the year for Olga Tokarczuk’s The Books of Jacob. She has previously been nominated for the this prize for Olga Tokarczuk Prowadź swój pług przez kości umarłych and Bruno Schulz’ Sklepy cynamonowe, and she has been nominated for the Bastian prize for best translation for Bruno Schulz’ Sklepy cynamonowe.
