She was born in 1959 in Gdynia. At the age of nine she moved to West Germany (Frankfurt am Main). She studied German studies, Romance studies and Slavic studies. From 1991 to 1993 she lived in Greece (Athens, Rhodes). Her poems have appeared in Polish literary journals (“Borussia”, “Pogranicza”, “Kultura”, Paris). In 2006 she received the Förderpreis des Europäischen Übersetzerpreises Offenburg, and in 2010 the Georg Dehio-Ehrenpreis for translating the book Die Nacht von Wildenhagen (Obwód głowy) by Włodzimierz Nowak. Since 1994 she has worked as a translator of Polish literature into German. She lives in Frankfurt am Main.
