Ella Fronczak

She born and raised in Poland, but she has been living in Sweden for over 40 years. Her love of languages and stories led her to study Scandinavian literature, and graduate in library science. She currently works as a librarian and is active in the field of culture, in particular surrounding issues around democracy, civil courage and children’s right to knowledge.

She is the author of two books: Together. A Little Book on Democracy and Will You Dare? A Book on Civil Courage. Both titles are aimed at younger audiences and used in educational contexts. Apart from writing, she is a keen translator from Polish into Swedish, especially of children’s popular science books. Among her translations are titles such as Politics, Economics, Walls, Revolutions, Knäcken – the Cat from Visby and The Cloud Weaver.

She is also active as a publisher: she runs her own publishing press whose mission is to promote worthwhile books for children and young readers, with a particular focus on democratic values, civic engagement and cultural diversity.
