Dimitios Chouliarakis was born in Athens in 1957. He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science at the University of Warsaw. For many years he edited the literary supplement to “To Vima”, a Greek daily with nationwide circulation.
He published eight volumes of his own poetry. He was awarded four prestigious prizes: “O Anagnostis” literary magazine award (2020), “Diavazo” literary magazine award (2003), and the Academy of Athens Award (2004 and 2016). He is a member of the Hellenic Authors’ Society.
He takes active part in all initiatives promoting Polish literature in Greece. His own initiative was to organize, in 2014, the event “5 centuries of Polish poetry. From Kochanowski to Szymborska”. In 2015, he was a member of the jury of a competition for young translators organized by the Polish Book Institute and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens.
