She was born in the UK to Polish parents. She studied Russian at university and went on to hold a British Council Scholarship in Kraków for a year. She has worked in publishing for a variety of presses. In 2015, she was one of ALTA’s (American Literary Translators’ Association) first mentees, working with Bill Johnson. She is twice winner of the Found in Translation Award, for Kornel Filipowicz’s Memoir of an Anti-Hero, and Władysław Reymont’s The Peasants.

- Władysław Reymont, The Promised Land [Ziemia Obiecana] – not yet under contract, but a sample translation of this novel has been awarded the Libra Award by the Jerzy Petrkiewicz Foundation in April 2026, which guarantees funding for translation costs when a publisher is found.
