Born in Havana, Cuba, on 6 December 1941, Angel Zuazo is a translator and engineer with strong academic ties to both Cuba and Poland. He studied at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska Energetics Technical College in Bytom, Poland (1961–1965), and later at the Polish Institute ISPJAE in Havana (1970–1976).
As a translator from Polish into Spanish, he has translated six novels, a volume of poetry, thirteen television dramas for Cuban television, twenty-two short stories, an essay on Witkacy’s paintings, the screenplay of the Polish film Photographer (Fotoamator), and subtitles for All That I Love (Wszystko co kocham).
His contributions to the promotion of Polish literature and culture have been recognized with the Honorary Prize for Literary Translation (1991) and the Meritorious for Polish Culture Decoration, awarded in 1987 and again in 2001.
