Wojciech Brzoska

(b. 1978) – poet, editor, cultural organiser.

Co-founder and vocalist of the band Brzoska i Gawroński. He has published twelve poetry collections: “Śmierć pozuje do zdjęć” (Death Poses for Photos, 2000), “Blisko coraz dalej” (Close Ever Further, 2000), “Niebo nad Sosnowcem” (Sky Over Sosnowiec, 2001), “Wiersze podejrzane” (Shady Poems, 2003), “Sacro casco” (2006), “Przez judasza” (Through the Peephole, 2008), “Drugi koniec wszystkiego” (The Second Ending of Everything, 2010), “W każdym momencie na przyjście i odejście” (At Every Moment of Coming and Going, 2015), which was accompanied by a CD by Brzoska i Gawroński entitled “Słońce, lupa i mrówki”; “Jutro nic dla nas nie ma” (Tomorrow Has Nothing For Us, 2017), “Ucho środkowe” (Middle Ear, 2020), “Plejady” (Pleiades, 2021) and “Senny ofsajd” (Sleepy Offside, 2022), as well as the selection “Stój i słuchaj” (Stop and Listen, 2022). He was awarded the Otoczak “Pebble” Poetry Award (2007). He ran the poetry sections in the magazines “Kursywa” and “artPapier”. He is the originator of the Jean Genet National Poetry Competition, addressed to prisoners.

His poems have been translated into languages including English, Czech, Spanish and Serbian. This author’s work is widely discussed by literature scholars in the essay collection “Poetyka ucha. O wierszach Wojciecha Brzoski” (The Poetics of the Ear. About Wojciech Brzoska’s Poems, 2022) edited by Jan Baron and Zbigniew Kadłubek.
