He has published ten poetry collections: “alicja” (alice, 1996), “Pójdziesz synu do piekła” (Son, You’ll Go To Hell, 1999), “serce” (heart, 2002), “baw się” (have fun, 2008), “piąte królestwo” (the fifth kingdom, 2011), “świat był mój” (the world was mine, 2014), “rozmowa trwa dalej” (the conversation goes on, 2016), “ciche psy” (quiet dogs, 2017), “żal, może on” (sorrow, maybe it, 2022) and “pamięć niczyja, ciało moje” (nobody’s memory, my body, 2024), and the selection “moja” (mine, 2008), in which he included poems from his first three books. The volume have fun was nominated for the Nike Literary Award and the Silesius Poetry Award (both in 2009). For the fifth kingdom Honet received a nomination for the Gdynia Literary Prize (2012). The world was mine was honoured with the Wisława Szymborska Award (2015, ex aequo with Jacek Podsiadło) and the poet’s second nomination for the Silesius Poetry Award (2015). Literary critics consider Honet to be one of the most important authors born in the 1970s; he is sometimes associated with neosurrealism and the so-called “current of the emboldened imagination”. The term was suggested by Marian Stala.
From 1995 to 2008 Honet edited the bimonthly “Studium” and the books published under that magazine’s aegis. He edited the anthology “Poeci na nowy wiek” (Poets for the New Century, 2010), co-edited “Antologia nowej poezji polskiej 1990–2000” (Anthology of New Polish Poetry 1990-2000, 2004) and three anthologies from The Haul. Poetry Debuts cycle published by Biuro Literackie. As a lecturer, he held writing classes at the Jagiellonian University’s Postgraduate School of Literature and Art at the Faculty of Polish Studies. Roman Honet’s poems have been translated into English, German, Ukrainian, Russian, Danish, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Czech, Slovak, Slovene, Serbian, Spanish and Italian, and included in many anthologies.
