Piotr Nesterowicz
(b. 1971) – a writer, reporter and Doctor of Economics.
A graduate of the Polish School of Reportage at the Reportage Institute in Warsaw, he went on to write journalism, short stories, essays and fantasy novels. His works have been published in such periodicals as Akcent, Duży Format, Twórczość, Tygodnik Powszechny and Nowa Fantastyka. He is the chair of the Pismo Foundation and, since 2018, has published Pismo. Magazyn Opinii.
In 2015 he published a famed piece of reportage – ‘Cudowna’ (Miraculous). Nestorowicz told the story of the ‘Zabłudowski Miracle’ of 1965, a series of epiphanies of the Mother of God and the resulting clashes between the local populace and the militia. This book received the Wiesław Kazanecki Award, a nomination for the Nike Literary Award and the Ryszard Kapuściński Award. He also took the W. Kazanecki Mayor of the City of Białystok Literary Award for the best book of 2014.
