Katarzyna Szweda

(b. 1990) – poet, translator and photographer.

She has published the poetry collections “Bosorka” (Witch, 2020) and “zemla vulgaris” (2023). Her debut volume received nominations for the Silesius Poetry Award, the Wiesław Kazanecki Literary Award of the Białystok City Mayor and the Stanisław Barańczak Prize-Grant (all in 2021). For her photography work, she became a laureate of the ShowOFF Section of Kraków Photomonth (2022). Both of the poet’s books, whose themes include her complex Lemko-Polish identity, feature her black-and-white photographs of the Lemko borderlands where she was born: Wrzosowa Polana in the Low Beskids. Katarzyna Szweda’s poems have been translated into Czech.
