View profile(b. 1974) – philologist, editor, journalist.
She writes for the periodicals “Dziennik Polski”, “Gazeta Krakowska”, “Taternik”, is a regular contributor to “Traveler National Geographic”, a therapist and breathworker.
She wrote a few books about psychology and social issues, and is an author or co-author of extended interviews. “Arka. Opowieść o życiu i przetrwaniu” (The Ark. A Tale of Life and Survival, co-authored with Maciej Kwaśniewski) is a conversation with haematologist professor Aleksander Skotnicki, who speaks about fighting every day for the life of leukaemia and bone marrow transplant patients. The narrative of saving lives through medicine is combined with the interviewee’s other passion: reviving the memory about Oskar Schindler’s charges whom he rescued from the Holocaust.
Katarzyna Kachel is also the author of the books “Wszystkie moje straty” (All My Losses), in which she gives voice to women who have experienced pregnancy loss, and of “Atypowa głowa. Moje życie w spektrum” (Atypical Head. My Life on the Spectrum). In the latter publication, the author shows – with great sensitivity and empathy – the world of people with ADHD and on the autism spectrum as they try to work out how to live without having to painfully adjust to a world in which they all too often feel they “diverge” from the norm.
Together with Marcin Łokciewicz, a long-time employee of the Medical Centre for Children and Young People in Zabór, she wrote the book “Żyję, czy to za mało?” (I’m Alive, Is That Not Enough?). Its authors focus on the mental health crisis among children and teenagers and show how children can be effectively helped with everyday empathy and presence.
