Jolanta Nowaczyk
(b. 1992) – a visual artist.
Working in such media as video, installation and performance, she studied at the Intermedia Faculty at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and at the Arts Academy in Szczecin.
‘Ala ma kota. A Ali? Zdanka pierwsza klasa’ (Ala Has a Cat. And Ali? First-Grade Sentences) is her first children’s book, with illustrations by Daria Solak. It has phrases from grammar books for teaching children to read from twenty-five countries. This book took the main prize at the JASNOWIDZE competition in 2014 for design of an illustrated children’s book (the book’s original title was ‘Wieża Babel’ [The Tower of Babel]) and a nomination for the City of Warsaw Literary Award in the Children’s Literature – Text and Illustration category (2016).
