He has published the short story collections “Floryda” (Florida, 2017) and “Idzie tu wielki chłopak” (Here Comes Big Boy, 2023). Both were enthusiastically received by critics and readers. His debut, Florida, received the Kraków Book of the Month Award (2017), as well as nominations for the Gdynia Literary Prize, the Witold Gombrowicz Literary Award, the Conrad Award and the “Juliusz” Upper Silesian Literary Award (all in 2018). His second book, Here Comes Big Boy, received the Gdynia Literary Prize and the Witold Gombrowicz Literary Award, as well as nominations for the Literary Award of the Capital City of Warsaw, the Angelus Central European Literature Award and the Empik Discoveries (all in 2024). In 2023 he was nominated for the Polityka’s Passport Award. His screenplay for the short feature film Jerry (2017) was awarded at the Five Continents International Film Festival in Puerto La Cruz (2019) and nominated for the Jan Machulski Independent Polish Cinema Award (2018).
Grzegorz Bogdał is one of the most interesting contemporary authors of short prose. His works have been included in many anthologies, discussed by literary critics, and translated into Spanish.
