(b. 1946) – poet, one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Polish poetry.
She has published the poetry collections “Dożywocie” (Life Sentence, 1994), “Pan Bóg wyjechał na Florydę” (God Has Left for Florida, 1997), “Pochylenie” (Tilting, 2002), “Czuły nóż” (The Tender Knife, 2006), “Ostateczny smak truskawek” (The Ultimate Taste of Strawberries, 2009), “Performance” (2011), the bilingual volume “ze mnie robaka i z robaka wiersze / of me a worm and the worm verses” (2012), “Paraliż przysenny” (Sleep Paralysis, 2016), “Rośliny mięsożerne” (Carnivorous Plants, 2020) and “Wiwisekcja” (Vivisection, 2023), as well as a collection of poems from the years 1994-2009 “i wtedy minie twoja gorączka” (and then thy fever shall pass). The volume Performance was nominated for the Silesian Laurel of Literature (2012) and Sleep Paralysis reached the final of the Nike Literary Award (2017). Carnivorous Plants won the Wisława Szymborska Award and a nomination for the Literary Award of the Capital City of Warsaw (both in 2021). Her most recent book, Vivisection, was nominated for the Nike Literary Award and the Kazimierz Hoffman KOS Poetry Award (both in 2024). Her poems have been translated into English, Czech, German, Russian and Slovak. They have also been widely reviewed and included in many anthologies.
