(b. 1982) – writer, essayist, one of the most acclaimed authors of contemporary prose.

She has published the short story collections “Halo? Pani Elizo? Archiwalia” (Hello? Mrs Eliza? The Archives, 2015), “Elizje” (Elisions, 2017), “Po drugiej stronie siebie” (On the Other Side of Self, 2019), “Strefa zgniotu” (Crash Zone, 2022), the collection of essays on literature “Idiomy. Eseje” (Idioms. Essays, 2023), and an autobiographical essay “Wczoraj byłaś zła na zielono” (Yesterday You Were Angry in Green, 2024). The latter book won the Nike Literary Award and the Readers’ Nike Award, as well as the Lublin City of Literature Award in the non-fiction category and the “Laurel” Literary Award for Warmia and Masuria in two categories: the Main Award and the Readers’ Award (all of them in 2025). This autobiographical essay was also nominated for the Angelus Central European Literature Award and the Marcin Król Award (both in 2025). Eliza Kącka is a literary scholar and critic, and works as a lecturer at the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw, having obtained a humanities doctorate. Since 2019, she has been a chapter member for the Gdynia Literary Prize, and in 2021 and 2022 she was in the jury of the Literary Award of the Capital City of Warsaw. She writes columns and has a regular byline in “Tygodnik Powszechny”. She has also published academic papers and edited poetry collections of writers including Cyprian Norwid, Anna Świrszczyńska, Maria Konopnicka and Henryka Łazowertówna.
