Aleksandra Koperda

A journalist, editor, writer and blogger, exhibition curator.

She is the author of books about design: “Odwiedziny. Rozmowy o dizajnie” (The Visit. Conversations About Design); “Dizajn miejsc codziennych” (Design of Everyday Spaces); “teraz polski dizajn” (now polish design) and “Kolekcje dizajnu” (Collections of Design).

She graduated in cultural animation from the Jagiellonian University and completed a postgraduate course in art history and contemporary visual culture at the Polish Academy of Sciences. As a journalist, she works with the magazines “AD Polska”, “Tygodnik Polityka”, “Vogue Polska” and “KUKBUK”.

She is the originator and editor of Hygge Blog, which she has been running since 2016. As part of the cycle “Odwiedziny. Kolekcja MOCAK-u” (The Visit. The MOCAK Collection) – which she initiated in 2022 together with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków (MOCAK) – she presents, on a quarterly basis, apartments and ateliers of artists associated with the museum’s collection. In 2024 Hygge Blog co-created Dizajn na fali, a series of conversations about Polish design in collaboration with the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Kraków.

Koperda’s blogging activity resulted in her first book, The Visit. Conversations About Design (2020), containing 20 interviews with architects, designers and design afficionados. The author peered into their private residences, listened to stories about places, objects, experiences and various perspectives on design.

While working on her second book, Design of Everyday Spaces (2021), Koperda visited another 24 apartments and homes. Her third published work is the richly illustrated album now polish design (2023), which received a distinction in the “must have 2024” poll organised by Łódź Design Festival. Her most recent publication, Collections of Design (2025), with photographs by Michał Lichtański, presents the belongings of Polish collectors. The stories in the album allow for a deeper understanding of the passion for collecting, and the owners’ relationships with the objects they gather. Objects construe our identity, embody our memories, expectations and ambitions, naturally create the environment we live in.

Koperda curated the exhibition “Przedmioty domowe. Rzeczy w życiu człowieka” (Domestic Objects. Things in Human Life) presented in 2021 at Łódź Design Fesival and at the Institute of Design in Kielce, which featured everyday objects chosen by 15 of the figures featured in the book The Visit. Conversations About Design. In 2023, at the Centrum Festiwalowe Art_Inkubator in Łódź, Koperda curated the exhibition “Kolekcje” (Collections). In 2025 she co-originated Rewersy. Spotkania przy pracy, a series of conversations with artists whose works can be found in the ING Polish Art Foundation collection, as well as an exhibition at the gallery Podgląd, featuring objects from their studios.
