Agata Jabłońska

(b. 1985) – a poet, artist, art historian and museologist.

She graduated in art history and is professionally associated with the National Museum in Kraków. She’s the author of the poetry books “Raport wojenny” (War Report); “dla moich dziewczyn” (for my girls) and “Księżyc Grzybiarek” (The Mushroom Pickers’ Moon).

Jabłońska’s work focuses on individual experience in the context of social and political tensions. Her debut volume War Report received the Silesius Poetry Award, the Kazimiera Iłłakowiczówna Award (2018) and a nomination for the Gdynia Literary Prize (2018). 2021 saw the publication of her poetry book for my girls, in which Jabłońska uses the angle of everyday situations – like coming home or going out at night – to show women’s opposition to violence, inequality, and endangerment.

The 2023 volume The Mushroom Pickers’ Moon, which the author calls “an anti-hunting concept”, was nominated for the Wisława Szymborska Award and received a distinction from the jury of the fourth „Znaczenia” (Meanings) Literary Festival (2024). In April 2024 it was chosen as the Kraków Book of the Month.

Jabłońska’s poems were included in the anthologies “Biji Rojava!” (2019), “Jak długo będziemy musieli” (How Long Will We Have To, 2020), “Poetki na czasy zarazy” (Female Poets in the Time of Cholera, 2021), “Żeby ten wiersz był pudełkiem zapałek. Obiektywizm w polskiej poezji” (For This Poem to Be a Box of Matches. Objectivism in Polish Poetry, 2024).

Jabłońska collaborates with Krakowska Szkoła Poezji im. A. Fredry (A. Fredro Kraków School of Poetry) and the art/culture magazine “Stoner Polski”. She creates artbooks, fabrics, objects and photographs. In 2025 Muzeum Komiksu (The Comic Book Museum) in Kraków held her first individual exhibition, entitled Zu Ziny.
