Anders Bodegård Scholarship
The scholarship named after Anders Bodegård, eminent translator of Polish and French literature into Swedish, is awarded to translators who specialise in translating Polish literature into Swedish or French. The scholarship offer includes a month’s stay for the laureate at the Translators’ Collegium in Cracow or Warsaw.
The scholarship named after Anders Bodegård, eminent translator of Polish and French literature into Swedish, is awarded to translators who specialise in translating Polish literature into Swedish or French. The scholarship offer includes a month’s stay for the laureate at the Translators’ Collegium in Cracow or Warsaw. The scholarship was initiated in 2025, and its first beneficiary was Maryla Laurent, translator of Polish literature into French.
Anders Bodegård (1944-2024) – Swedish slavist, translator of Polish and French literature into Swedish. He translated and popularised in Scandinavia the works of Polish writers including Witold Gombrowicz, Ryszard Kapuściński, Ewa Lipska, Zbigniew Herbert, Paweł Huelle, Antoni Libera, Father Józef Tischner, Adam Zagajewski and Wisława Szymborska. Laureate of the 2006 Transatlantyk Award.
